The Hakkan

"The Kahbid-Dai" is a short story I wrote in the course of about three days while at work. I wrote it during lunch and when I had nothing else to do. It was a random story idea, just something that popped into my head without any connection to anything else I was working on; at the time I was completely focused on The Desert Throne and everything connected to it. However, I really loved "The Kahbid-Dai" when it was finished, and I happened to have a link thanks to a friend to a publisher perfect for this story.

I submitted, and "The Kahbid-Dai" was published by Iris Print as part of their first anthology, Connections, in September, 2006. Unfortunately, since then, Iris Print has gone out of business, and the book is out of print.

As a result of Iris Print publishing "The Kahbid-Dai", I began toying with the idea of expanding the idea into a novel in its own right. Expand the idea has, and I've been writing bits and pieces.

My hope was that Iris Print would want to publish the book when it’s done, but now I hope to find a new publisher for it.

So, right now the novel's working title is The Hakkan, which is totally and completely subject to change at any moment, as is anything else related to the book. Enjoy!

Update: The Hakkan, as my project for NaNoWriMo 2008, is now complete. It does need extensive editing before I can even consider sending it for publication, though. Still, it's finished!
